ECA(SA) NEEDS MEMBERS’ HELP TO ESTABLISH A WEST RAND BRANCH
ECA(SA) members who live on the West Rand and who would like to have their own local branch, can make it happen on 24 April at the Discovery Bowling Club. Chris Koen, ECA(SA) Regional Director for the Highveld says he needs a quorum of 20 members in good standing to establish the West Rand branch. “The benefits for members are obvious: they won’t have to travel far to attend meetings, and they will have their own local vendor who will supply Certificates of Compliance,” says Chris.
“There have been a number of attempts to get a West Rand branch going but somehow it has not happened,” says Chris. “I started this ball rolling a year ago when the National Director, Mark Mfikoe, then President, Johnny Cunniff and First Vice-President at the time, Giel Labuschagne, gave the go-ahead for the establishment of a branch on the West Rand.”
To get it off the ground, Chris invites members in Randburg; Roodepoort; Krugersdorp (Mogale); Randfontein; Westonaria; Bekkersdahl; Kagiso; Soweto; Muldersdrift; Honeydew; Hekpoort; Magaliesburg; and Carltonville, to attend the meeting.
If 20 members or more attend the meeting, the branch can be established, and an election will be held to elect a chairman and a vice-chairman for the new branch. Meetings will take place three times a year with an AGM being held at last meeting of the year.
“The benefits for the members are obvious – they get their own branch, which means they don’t have to travel far to attend meetings, and they will have their own local vendor who will supply Certificates of Compliance,” says Chris.
The Highveld region has four branches: Wits (Johannesburg), Ermelo (Mpumalanga), Klerksdorp (Northwest), and the Vaal branch. “With the members’ help, there will soon be a West Rand branch,” says Chris.
