SANS 10142-1 Edition 3 is available for public comment to all who would like to view the upcoming changes to the wiring code of practice and comment on any of the proposed changes.
There are numerous proposed changes that would affect contractors’ day-to-day lives.
It is available for public comment for 60 days before being published.
Some of the changes are: New Test reports; new surge and lightning requirements; flexible cord ‘cabtyre’ may now be used; updated Resistance of Earth Continuity Conductors (RECC) requirements.

You are welcome to submit your comments directly to the SABS at email@example.com or to the ECA for inclusion in the ECA’s official submission.
The final date for comments directly to the SABS is 12 February 2020; and any submissions made via the ECA must be made before 5 February 2020, to enable us to collate and include all comments into the ECA submission.
Draft standards are not approved standards and may change before being officially published as SANS standards.
