GET YOUR FOURBALLS TOGETHER FOR THE LAST THREE ECA(SA) GOLF DAYS FOR 2018

There are three ECA(SA) golf days still to be held this year – the East/South Cape Region’s day at the Walmer Country Club, the Highveld Region’s day at the Glendower Country Club, and the ECA National Office’s day at the Houghton Country Club. What better way is there to combine work and play than to enjoy a round of golf with fellow electrical contractors, clients and colleagues? The ECA’s golf days are where people in the electrical industry get to network, meet new people and have fun.

East/South Cape region

20 September

The Walmer Country Club is this year’s venue for the ECA (SA) East/South Cape region’s 11th Annual Golf Day. Lucas Bowles, Regional Director for the East/South Cape region, who plays social golf to enjoy a care free day out in the fresh air in the company of old friends, invites all golfers in the area to join him on 20 September.

With its thick coastal bush and tree-lined fairways, this course can be challenging – especially when the Windy City lives up to its name and the golfers have to take the notorious wind’s velocity into account.  The good news is that the greens are in excellent condition despite the drought in the Eastern Cape.

All the proceeds of the day will be donated to charities in Port Elizabeth.

Highveld region

21 September

Chris Koen, Highveld Regional Director invites members to join him and the Highveld staff at the Glendower Golf Club on 21 September.

Glendower Golf Club is an exquisitely designed, highly ranked parkland golf course in Gauteng. With a proud history dating back to 1935, Glendower has held many of the country’s flagship tournaments.

The par 72 course boasts lovely kikuyu fairways with 64 bunkers, 27 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine and water hazards on 11 of the 18 holes. Glendower truly offers a challenge and accuracy is key.

All the proceeds of the day will be donated to charities in the Johannesburg region.

National Golf Day

21 November

The last golf day of the year is the traditional ECA(SA) National Charity Golf Day. Mark Mfikoe, National Director, chose the prestigious Houghton Golf Course as the venue for this year’s event and invites members to join him for a round of golf on 21 November.

The format is ‘fourball alliance with two scores to count’ so inexperienced golfers can join in the fun.

Steeped in tradition, Houghton Golf Club is one of South Africa’s premier golfing venues. The parkland layout has ponds and dams and an abundance of flowering shrubs. It’s a par 72 course with kikiyu fairways and is set adjacent to a greenbelt that’s rich in the area’s natural fauna and flora. It is a proclaimed bird sanctuary with Egyptian geese, guinea fowl, dikkops, plovers and a variety of waterfowl.
