50 ELECTRICAL APPRENTICES BEGIN TRAINING IN PORT ELIZABETH

On 17 April, electrical apprentices from Port Elizabeth TVET College started their five-week initial training through the Dual System Pilot Project, with another group also starting at Midlands Eastcape College. The ECA(SA) will appoint host employers to provide training for the 50 apprentices on the Pilot Project.

An induction meeting was held on the first morning to inform the apprentices of the realities of moving out of the classroom into the real world of work. In five weeks thee students will start with their practical workplace training at host ECA member companies.

The ECA(SA) Regional Director for the East/South Cape, Lucas Bowles, says, “I’m looking forward to the challenge of producing qualified electrical artisans for our Industry.”
