Electric Fence System Installer Course

For persons who wish to register as Electric Fence System Installer (EFSI) as per Regulations 12 – 14 of the Electrical Machinery Regulations.

Certificate of Compliance (Unit Standards Course)

This comprehensive one-day course is for electricians who have passed the trade test and want to apply for registration as a Registered Person with the Department of Labour; and for electricians who already have a Wireman’s License, but who would like to do a refresher course to keep up with DoL’s requirements.

Requirements: Registration criteria – DoL: Fault-finding; details of installation (matrix): Annexure 1 CoC (1 May 2009); Annex 1 / CoC & Test report (ECA (SA); Electrical Installation Regulations; Electrical Machinery Regulations 2011: OHS Act: Earth leakage protection (history of earth leakage) – updated version; Calculation of hourly tariffs; S/S main meter room (point of supply); Example to calculate PSC, Earth continuity conductors – bonding; Example of layout of domestic circuitry; DB layout; Table 7,3 voltage transformers (SELV); guide for estimated year of installation.

SANS 10142-1 Ed 2 Certificate of Compliance Refresher Course

For Registered Persons to remain up-to-date with the requirements for CoCs. Covers SANS 10142-1 and correct completion of CoCs; legislation and use of equipment. Also for conveyancing attorneys’ staff members and estate agents.

Requirements: Registration as either a Single-Phase Tester, Installation Electrician or Master Installation Electrician.

Own testing equipment, which will be used for practical testing.

This course covers consumer’s earth; terminal; earthing and bonding; testing and test equipment; earthing PV installations and lightning masts; alternate supplies; etc.

Installation Rules

Preparation course for the subject Installation Rules Paper 1 ad Paper 2. Candidates are guided through the requirements and calculations and relevant information required to write the examinations.

Requirements: Registration for national examination at a FET College is for the student’s account.

The ECA does not register students at FET colleges; it is the student’s responsibility to register for the National examination.
