The Electrical Contractors’ Association (SA) (ECA) invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Technical Advisor / Trainer.
Due to increased operational demands within the technical department, the ECA seeks to appoint an additional resource to strengthen its technical capacity and enhance service delivery to members.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
•Presenting technical training courses and refresher programmes
•Assisting with training in other regions, where required
•Responding to technical telephone and email enquiries
•Conducting site visits with members to observe, assess, and guide testing methodologies and compliance practices
•Assisting with investigations into complaints involving members
•Providing day-to-day technical advisory support to members and ECA staff
•Assisting with the development of technical guidance material and training content where required
•Writing technical articles for Electrical Contractor Magazine and Wired
•Attending and/or hosting meetings, functions, workshops, and events where required
Minimum Requirements
•Registration as an Installation Electrician (IE)
•Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience as an Installation Electrician
•Practical experience with photovoltaic (PV) installations
•Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Installation Regulations (EIR), SANS 10142-1, and related regulations and standards
•Good communication, report-writing, and presentation skills
•Ability to work independently and professionally and travel when required
•Sound problem-solving ability and practical approach to technical matters
The position offers a competitive salary, Medical Aid, and Pension Fund upon confirmation of permanent employment. The position may be based in Pretoria or Germiston, depending on operational requirements.
