SCHNEIDER GIFTS KLIPTOWN CRECHE

Schneider Electric handed over Santa Shoeboxes this weekwith school stationary, toiletries and clothing, to the Grade RR and Grade R children of the Pastoral Centre Pre-school and Crèche in Kliptown, Soweto. The Santa Shoebox donations formed part of the company’s local GivingTuesday drive which was sponsored and put together by Schneider Electric volunteers.

The Schneider Electric Foundation has supported GivingTuesday globally since 2018 and Schneider Electric has partnered with the Pastoral Centre Pre-school and Crèche since 2016.  This year’s handover again provided the organisation with an opportunity to solidify its support which has, in the last seven years, seen various access to energy and education initiatives rolled out at the crèche and surrounding community.

“The Pastoral Centre Pre-school and Crèche in Kliptown lies very close to our hearts.  Handing over the Santa Shoeboxes to the children was an amazing experience every Schneider Electric volunteer will cherish. The campaign was entitled ‘Bring Joy to a Child this Xmas’ and seeing the smiles on the faces of the children as they opened their gifts, was truly heart-warming.” says Nimmita Maharaj, Diversity and Transformation Director, Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric.

Established in 2012, GivingTuesday has in the last 11 years grown from a simple idea – a day that encourages people to do good – into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
