Electric Fence System Installers (EFSIs) should take note that a new version of the prescribed Safety Standard SANS 10222-3:2023 (Ed. 5.01) Electrical security installations – Part 3: Electric fences (non-lethal) and manufacture requirements – was published on 29 June 2023. Its contents are summarised as follows: Abstract – gives additional requirements for the installation and connection of electric fences to those given in IEC 60335-2-76 (published in South Africa as an identical adoption under the designation SANS 60335-2-76).
This new version is available from all ECA(SA) offices at R980.00 for non-members and R760.00 for ECA(SA) members in good standing. These are available in electronic format (pdf) and hard-copies are available on request and can be collected from ECA offices or, on payment of delivery costs or postage expenses can be posted or couriered.
