BULLET-PROOF COCS: 1-DAY REFRESHER, ECA CAPE TOWN

ONE DAY SHORT COURSE OFFERING AT THE ECA – CAPE TOWN BRANCH, WEDNESDAY 19 JUNE 2024.

There is an urgent need amongst some electricians to improve and deepen both the knowledge and the competencies required for the issuing of competent, impregnable CoCs. For this reason, ECA(SA) Cape Town branch is offering the All-Encompassing CoC Theoretical and Practical Completion Refresher Session.

By performing the required tests and completing all required supporting documentation , as well as understanding and making use of a valuable Test Report in the PV Environment, the electrician is effectively ‘bullet proofing’ the CoC.

Key Outcomes

Understanding the legal requirements and completing the different type of CoC’s, including the SSEG PV Test report ,performing the required tests, and understanding the revised SANS TABLE 8.1.

Course Content and Description:

This one day course covers both the theoretical AND the practical requirements for issuing CoC’s, including:

  • How to “bulletproof” your installation
  • Completion of the Two Page CoC
  • Completion of the Reticulation CoC
  • Completion of the Test report
  • Completion and Understanding of the SSEG PV Test Report
  • Neutral Loop Test
  • Understanding the NEW Earth Continuity Test
  • Understanding the SSEG PV Test Report

This  course also looks at testing in general and will help electricians to understand test values and ensure that they are conducted correctly. You will also learn how to get the most out of test instruments, such as multimeters, PSCC/loop testers, insulation resistance testers, earth resistance testers, phase rotation testers and socket outlet ELCB testers.

Practical Tests

This course covers the following practical tests described in SANS 10142-1 Edition 3.1.

  • 8.6       Testing
  • 8.6.2     Continuity of bonding
  • 8.6.3     Resistance of earth continuity conductor
  • 8.6.4     Continuity of ring circuits (whereapplicable)
  • 8.6.5     Earth and neutral fault loop impedance at the main switch
  • 8.6.6     Elevated voltage on supply neutral
  • 8.6.7     Earth resistance
  • 8.6.8     Insulation resistance
  • 8.6.9     Voltage, at distribution board – no load
  • 8.6.10   Voltage, at distribution board – on load
  • 8.6.11   Operation of earth leakage units
  • 8.6.12   Earth leakage test button
  • 8.6.13   Polarity at points of consumption
  • 8.6.14   Switching devices
