Braam van Emmenis (Pr.ing.Tech) presented a technical workshop ON A one-day workshop on earthing, bonding, lightning and surge protection systems for PV at ECA(SA)’s Bloemfontein branch on August 26 2023. Braam is a SANAS accredited Approved Inspection Authority for the Department of Labour AIA (). Lightning surge protection expert, Electrical Contractor since 1993, Electrical Inspector for the last 20 years.
The Electrical Installation Regulations stipulate that a Certificate of Compliance with a detailed test report must be issued for each part of an electrical installation, supply which consists of grid (council / municipal / Eskom), PV solar, generator(s), and UPS. The course will cover the importance of test instruments and the correct procedures for inspection, testing and verification according to SANS 10142-1:2021 Ed 3.1.
