The ECA’s Training Centre at 1074 Francis Baard (Schoeman) Street, Hatfield, Pretoria, offers an ideal opportunity for anyone to help his employees, family members or friends to undergo an apprenticeship and become an artisan-electrician in a safe and familiar environment.
We can also assist with upskilling your current employees right up to artisanship. This process commences with you training your un/semi-skilled employees in the workplace up to Elconop one level.
For those to be recognised as Elconop two, they need to attend our Module 0-3 training, and upon being declared competent at that level, they will receive a certificate against which the relevant card will be issued by the Bargaining Council.
After gaining twelve months of workplace experience at Elconop two level, you may enrol them for our Modules 4-6 training. Upon success, the same applies to get them to Elconop three level.
The next step is that as soon as you have agreed that the time is right for him to qualify, you can send the incumbent to be assessed via the ARPL (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning) for readiness to write his Trade Test. This ARPL basically confirms his learning and understanding of the modular training he has undergone during Modules attended.
If found ready, we can apply for a date for him to do his Trade test.
We will be offering a ‘refresher’ to assist with readiness for the ARPL, and also trade test.
Upon passing the trade test, the incumbent is a fully qualified electrician.
This course is open for both apprentices and Elconops that have successfully completed Modules 0-3. The cost is R8 500 per person for ECA members in good standing, and R9 900 for non-members.
A full set of courses is scheduled for 2023.
