ENSURING PEAK CABLE PERFORMANCE AND CARE

The internet, electricity, and even wireless communications depend on cables for efficient and safe operations. Even our cellular communication today relies on cables to send data, voice, and video from one recipient to another, not to mention the electrical power needed to keep information flowing. Therefore, the reliability and uninterrupted operation of these cables are critical to almost every aspect of our business and home lives.

The MT195’s transmitter and receiver include advanced digital circuit technologies.

Major Tech supplies a versatile range of tools to assist technicians in managing and maintaining cables in large or small installations. From finding cables and pipes behind a wall to determining the length of cables before starting a project and troubleshooting existing cables for faults, Major Tech has the meter technicians require.

This device allows you to pinpoint pipes and cables in walls or underground with utmost precision by identifying the corresponding signal number sent by the transmitter.

The MT195’s transmitter and receiver include advanced digital circuit technologies to ensure stable and reliable performance. When testing electrical circuits, the receiver can quickly identify breakers in the distribution board of the circuit the transmitter is connected to or vice versa. The receiver displays the measured signal value and can be used to check short circuits or breaks on existing cables or concealed electrical wires. The MT195 set is lightweight and is supplied with a complete set of accessories for direct measurement.

MT900 Cable Length Meter

The MT900 is a TDR cable length meter that measures copper wire up to 3 km in length. It uses Time Domain Reflectometer technology to measure the length of a range of cables, including telephone, CAT 5, Coax, and other cables, to an accuracy of 0.1 m. The meter can be used for any cable consisting of at least two insulated metallic elements, one of which may be the sheath or shield.

The MT900 has a cable library for quick and easy access to 20 standard cable types, enabling accurate measurement without entering the VOP (Velocity of Propagation). It can also store up to 99 internal memory locations, which can be used for future analysis by calculating and storing the VOP for the tested cable. It runs off two AA batteries and sports a 2.4-inch TFT colour screen.

MT902 Wire Tester

When a customer requires a technician to resolve a problem somewhere in their cabling, the MT902 is exactly what technicians require. This VDV Wire Tester (voice, data, and video) analyses patch leads on phones, computer networks and coax cables in one easy step by verifying and troubleshooting RJ11, RJ12, RJ45 and F-connector cables (CAT 7, CAT 7a, cat 6a, CAT 6, CAT 5e, CAT 5, CAT 4, CAT 3, and Coax).

The large backlit LCD will map out and indicate open faults, shorts, reversed polarity, and crossed and split pairs. It displays PASS or FAIL status icons to assist in diagnosis. The MT902 comes standard with five RJ45 data and five Coax F-Connector identification remotes that can be used by technicians for mapping and identifying cable runs from patch panels to a wall outlet port.

Using an optional amplifier probe, the built-in tone generator can locate cables in wiring closets and patch panels. It supports a maximum Coax cable length of 305 metres and a maximum Coax resistance of 100Ω. A flashing voltage warning alerts the user if any unidentified hazardous voltage is detected as an added safety measure.

The MT902 is designed to provide years of reliable service. It is housed in a rugged double-moulded case and runs off two AA batteries.

MT933 Digital Cable Length Meter

The MT933 is a Digital Cable Length Meter with a 60 000-count handheld battery-operated metric cable length meter that quickly measures any reeled wire or cable up to 30 000 m and with gauges ranging from 0.15 mm² to 240 mm². Cables can be measured and digitally displayed within seconds without the cumbersome task of unrolling cable reels. All that is needed is accessibility to both cable ends.

The MT933 can also be used as a precision milli-ohm meter.

The MT933 can also be used as a precision milli-ohm meter. The User Select Mode allows the user to save the resistance of a user wire for additional measurements of unknown lengths of the same wire gauge. Temperature is also displayed on the large backlit LCD. This instrument is handy for electrical contractors who want to control cable inventories.

MT915 2-in-1 Cable Finder & Multimeter

The MT915 is a 2-in-1 Cable Finder & Multimeter with an excellent tracing system, saving hours of ‘bell-out’ time on a circuit. The MT915 consists of a transmitter and receiver device which enables one person to instantly match the ends of individual cores at either end of a multi-core cable. With the remote kit, the meter can test cables installed over long distances, either on wall plates or patch panels. The DMM function makes measuring AC volts, DC volts, AC and DC, resistance, continuity and diode checking easy. It can identify up to 16 cables and includes a 2000-count LCD.

MTC40 Tone and Probe Tester

The MTC40 Tone and Probe Tester traces cables using a tone generator connected on one side and a probe at the other end. This test is performed even when cables are in a bundle. It is easily used to verify cable continuity, pair condition, line polarity, and voltage in networking cabling systems for CAT5, coax, and modular telephone lines. It includes a built-in speaker with sensitivity control on the probe.

Furthermore, the MTC40 Tone and Probe Tester can work with the MT902 Wire Tester in cable testing and troubleshooting scenarios, especially in networking and telecommunications environments.

The VDV Wire Tester (MT902) can be used to analyse voice, data, and video cables comprehensively. This device detects faults such as shorts, opens, reversed polarity, crossed pairs, and split pairs in shielded twisted pair (STP), unshielded twisted pair (UTP), and coaxial cables. It provides a PASS or FAIL indication for correct or erroneous wiring.

To identify the path of your cables, you can use the VDV Wire Tester’s built-in tone generator. Connect the tone generator to one cable end and use the optional amplifier probe to trace its path. This method is handy when locating cables within wiring closets and patch panels.

You can use the Tone and Probe Tester (MTC40) to conduct detailed cable tracing. To use it, connect the tone generator of MTC40 to one end of the cable and use the probe to trace its route, even when cables are bundled. The probe emits an audible tone that increases in volume as it approaches the cable being traced, making it easier to identify.

The Tone and Probe Tester can perform additional testing and verification while tracing cables, including wire continuity, pair condition, and line polarity checking. The MTC40 also provides features like clear/busy ringing line tests and tip/ring identification for modular telephone lines.

MTC45 2-In-1 Tone and Probe Generator and Multimeter

The MTC45 tests include wire trace, continuity test, clear/busy/ringing, line test, and tip/ring identification. The unit is supplied with crocodile clips for non-terminated cables and modular connectors for direct telephone and internet wiring connections. The auto-range digital multimeter can measure AC/DC volts up to 600 V, AC/DC to 200 mA, resistance to 20 MΩ, and diode and has a continuity buzzer.

MTC50 2-In-1 LAN Tester and Multimeter

The MTC50 is a 2-in-1 LAN Tester and Multimeter that has been designed to easily read the correct pin configuration of 10/100 Base-T cables (Category 5), 10Base-2 cables (coax), RJ45/RJ11 modular cables, AT&T 258A, 356A, TIA-568A/568B and Token Ring cables by comparing one transmitting end to the corresponding receiving end. With the remote kit, test cables can be installed over long distances either on wall plates or patch panels. Verifying the cable continuity, open, short and cross-connect is easy. The auto-range digital multimeter allows the user to measure AC and DC voltage, AC and DC, resistance, continuity and diode tests.

The LED displays the actual pin configuration and tests the correct pin configuration of 100Base-T, 10Base-T, 10Base-2 Thin Ethernet cables, RJ45/RJ11 modular cables 356A, TIA-568A/568B, and Token Ring cables.

These are only some of the cable meters and accessories available from Major Tech designed for reliability, accuracy and ease of use when involved in construction, maintenance and alterations, no matter the size and scope of the job.
